Horse chestnut with its large leaves and long nodes is not the best tree for bonsai. But is it really so?
I started this one about six years ago from a seed. With a bit of timely pruning ramification of branches is slowly developing. Early summer defoliation will reduce size of leaves and also increase branch ramification.
I find chestnut to be an excellent tree to practice on proper bonsai techniques. Have a few in my collection.
